Teri "Tiare Kahana" Bourget was raised in California by Hawai'i native parents. Tiare's mother, Elizabeth was a dedicated hula dancer and in order to perpetuate their Hawaiian culture, she prompted her daughter to learn the art of hula. Elizabeth lost her battle to cancer in the year 2000 but remains Tiare's source of inspiration, leaving behind over 50 Polynesian dance choreography notes.

Tiare's kumu hula (hula master), Tani Marsh was a beautiful hula dancer from Hawai'i who won the title of "Miss Hula" in the 1940's. She left the islands to pursue her dance career in Hollywood and is featured in many Hollywood films such as "Blue Hawaii" and "South Pacific". She eventually opened her dance studio where Tiare learned Tani's alluring, trademark style of traditional hula blended with show biz flair.

The Aloha Spirit is what guides Tiare and Kahana Hula.  These are traits of character than express the charm, warmth and sincerity of Hawaii's people.

  • Aloha is more than a word of greeting, farewell or salutation.
  • Aloha means mutual regard and affection and extends warmth in caring with no obligation in return.
  • Aloha is the essence of relationships in which each person is important to every other person for collective existence.
  • Aloha means to hear what is not said, to see what cannot be seen and to know the unknowable.

Please join us in spreading the ALOHA SPIRIT throughout the world!
